With no top smartphones on its profile (Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and Xperia Z all running Qualcomm), Nvidia is still trying its best to stay relevant and in the world of Android where specs and gaming matter ? Nvidia has decided to assemble its own hardware. Here?s the Nvidia Shield, the first true rival of the Kickstarter baby Ouya.?
As reported by Android Central, Nvidia?s flip gaming device will start shipping to end-consumers on July 31. The $299 device offers stock version Android Jelly Bean, a 5-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16GB of on-board storage with additional storage support via micro SD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and of course, Nvidia?s Tegra 4 processor with 2GB RAM.
The report revealed that Nvidia confirmed the release date via e-mail, saying that the company wants ?to ship the perfect product, so we made sure we submitted SHIELD to the most rigorous mechanical testing and quality assurance standards in the industry.? Nvidia also added on the message that they love gaming.
So, where does the Nvidia Shield fit in the world of Android, or the world of consumer electronics? Will it sit between the Playstation 4 and the Android-powered devices like the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Qualcomm?s Snapdragon quad-core processors? Can Nvidia still lure customers who already own powerful Android phone??
