Plasma Brush Makes Painful Dental Drilling A Thing Of The Past ...

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

Facing a dental check up or procedure is truley frightening to some people; you probably don?t have to think hard to find someone you know with a fear of the dentist?s chair ? it?s a very common phobia. The pain that goes hand in hand with pretty much any dentist visit is a major reason for this fear (even the gentlest and most professional dentist can?t help but cause at least some pain). This may sound unbelievable, however clever scientists have invented a device that they say will help the dentist drill your teeth without causing any pain! It sounds like something out of Star Wars, but this device, called the plasma brush, is the latest in dental technology. This is no kids electric toothbrush, this is an extremely advanced piece of dental equipment.

The plasma brush is a non-invasive and completely painless way of dealing with the all too common cavity. It can hollow out a tooth in 30 seconds flat. Better yet, it can do so without actually having to enter the tooth in any way. There are no drills required in the process either; all that is required is to place the plasma brush gently upon the tooth to be hollowed out. It doesn?t even use excessive heat; scientists promise that all patients will feel when the plasma brush is holowing out their tooth, is a slight cooling sensation.

The plasma torch is the techology which drives this amazing device. The torch remains at room temperature throughout the entire process, and works by breaking down the bonds that form between your teeth and plaque bacteria. This technology has been pioneered at the University of Missouri, growing out of a cooperation beween researchers and a specialist medical technology company.

The plasma brush is intended to go to work on two specific tasks: firstly, the brush chemically kills the build up of plaque bacteria from around the tooth that has a cavity, and secondly, it hollows your tooth in such a way as to provide the optimal conditions for your new filling to take hold and stay there.

Trails of the plasma brush are continuing into 2012, and hopefully it could mean an end to the painful dentist visits that people tend to fear so much.
