I have had the pleasure recently of getting to know some other Newborn & Family Photographers, some located as close as here in Greensboro & Winston-Salem, others as far away as Canada & Australia. I love building these connections not only to share business ideas, but also to gain inspiration for my photography? from the flawless studio look, to the stylized outdoors-y sessions, to the in-home Lifestyle images, it?s awesome to explore the different takes that other professionals have on capturing pregnant bellies, brand-new babies, crazy toddlers & fun big kids.
Something I?ve noticed about the lifestyle photographers I?ve gotten to know is that they turn their lens often to their own their family, and they share the images on their blogs. I always love seeing these images because they inspire me as a photographer, and because they make me feel like I ?know? the photographer a little better, having gotten to see a slice of their life ? like what goes on in their homes, when their camera isn?t focused on their lovely clients. This got me to thinking that y?all might enjoy seeing a little more of that from me as well! So?
On this past Wednesday night, in the two (literally, two) minutes it took me to heat up pasta, Lil found half a crayon and a whole stash of construction paper? When I realized what she was up to, my gut reaction was to tell her to clean it up and head for the highchair. But, then it hit me ? I needed to grab the camera! It wasn?t part of my plan for our evening, but isn?t that the true essence of Lifestyle Photography? Un-planned and imperfect?. capturing the beautiful mess that is family life?
That?s what it is to me, anyway. And my hope is that by sharing images like these, I might inspire you to capture more of the every day, funny, imperfect moments that your precious kiddos present you with on a daily basis.?Of course ?you can also?contact me?to schedule an in-home lifestyle session so I can capture your beautiful mess in all its imperfect glory. : )
