NFL Free Agency 2013: Best Fits for Mike Wallace

Mike Wallace is the hottest offensive commodity on the 2013 NFL free agent market.

The 26-year-old receiver will receive a lucrative contract no matter who he signs with. He has racked up 4,042 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns in his first four NFL seasons.

Plenty of teams could use that kind of production from a receiver, but only certain teams will make a good match. Let's take a look at some of the logical landing spots for Wallace.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills' offense was incredibly inconsistent last season. They had a pair three-game stretches where they failed to score more than 19 points in a game. They also had a five game stretch where they scored no fewer than 24 points, and averaged 29.4 points per game.

They have good weapons on the field. Receiver Steve Johnson has proven to be a good route runner with another fine season, when he grabbed 79 receptions for 1,046 yards.

TE Scott Chandler developed into a nice receiving option too, especially in the red zone, as six of his 43 receptions went for touchdowns.

They also have a dynamic backfield, with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Spiller had a breakout season, rushing for 1,244 yards and receiving 459 more. Jackson, despite missing six games, gained 437 yards on the ground and another 217 in the air.

The only thing this offense is wanting is a deep threat to spread out the field. Wallace would be the perfect man for this job. He has averaged 17.2 yards per catch throughout his career, and is lethal on vertical routes. With his speed and big play ability, Wallace would help diversify Buffalo's offense and help them win games. They also have the cap space to get him.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have $45 million in cap-space, so they should be big spenders this offseason.

They have work to do on both sides of the ball, but improving their 24th ranked scoring offense would be a nice start.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden had a quietly solid rookie season, passing for 3,385 yards, and throwing 14 touchdowns against 17 picks. He showed promising signs that he might develop into a decent NFL quarterback.

For that to happen, he needs some help. His offensive line did a good job with pass protection, ranking 12th in the league in adjusted sack percentage. He has a great running back at his disposal in Trent Richardson, but he is missing a great receiving option.

Other than Josh Gordon, who caught 50 balls for 805 yards, the Browns really had no standout receivers. They didn't get too much help in that category from their tight ends, and their other receivers were mediocre at best.

Wallace would be a good guy to come into Cleveland and change things. He could give Weeden another legitimate receiver to throw to. Their offensive line would be able to protect Weeden long enough for Wallace to get down the field on his vertical routes.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are another team which needs to help its young quarterback out with some new weapons.

They are pretty well set with money to spend going into free agency, and a wide receiver is a big need for them. Brian Hartline, also a free agent, was the most effective option in the passing game for quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Though the Dolphins seem likely to re-sign Hartline, they need to add another option. Hartline was not a touchdown threat, scoring only once last season. He is a pretty versatile receiver, but works best in the slot. If the Dolphins were to snag Wallace, that would help open things up for Hartline, and the whole Miami offense would benefit.
