While many associate cyberbullying with high school or middle school, new research finds online bullying on a college campus can also be very detrimental to a student?s personal and academic life.
University of Texas ? Arlington researchers discovered harassment via social media, text message or other electronic communications can be pernicious in the college environment ? actions which merit an official response from administrators.
Jiyoon Yoon, Ph.D.,?co-authored the paper ?Cyberbullying Presence, Extent, and Forms in a Midwestern Post-secondary Institution,? which appears in Information Systems Education Journal.
?We hope our study will lead universities to ask themselves ?What does the university do to help minimize cyberbullying in academe??? Yoon said. ?Students also need to know about this and how to prepare for something like this if it happens to them.?
Experts say that Yoon?s work contributes to the ongoing conversation about the role of educational institutions in providing safe learning environments.
?There are very few academic studies examining cyberbullying at the college level even though it can seriously impact every aspect of a student?s life,? said Jeanne Gerlach, dean of the UT Arlington College of Education and Health Professions.
Yoon said her research was motivated by an incident at a Midwestern college in which two white students harassed an African-American student through an online social networking site.
The issue of cyberbullying garnered national attention the same year after an 18-year-old Rutgers University student jumped off the George Washington Bridge following an incident in which his roommate posted compromising videos of the freshman online.
Yoon said her own interest in the issue began after she observed students harassing peers on Facebook.
?I started thinking about cyberbullying and how people overwhelmingly tend to think that it only happens to teens. But more and more college-age students are dealing with this problem,? Yoon said.
?Co-eds cyberbully classmates, and I was shocked to discover students trying to cyberbully their instructors, too.?
For their study, Smith and Yoon surveyed 276 students from University of Minnesota campuses. They found that college students were not only using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social networking sites to cyberbully others, but they also were harassing peers through university technology infrastructures intended for educational purposes and other platforms for online learning.
Student participants indicated that when a victim?s life was imperiled, the university should play a major role in curbing the cyberbullying. Yoon and Smith wrote that their research led the University of Minnesota Duluth to adopt cyberbullying language in their 2012 student conduct code to try to address the phenomenon.
Yoon said she will focus her next phase of research on the role that a college student?s socioeconomic background plays in being both a perpetrator and victim of cyberbullying.

One of the most sophisticated drones the world has ever seen landed on an aircraft carrier Wednesday afternoon, wowing the socks off the top brass and changing war as we know it
The U.S. Navy just posted a video of the historic happening. It's oddly chilling to witness a robotic plane traveling hundreds of miles an hour scream onto the deck of a moving ship without the slightest amount of help from a human pilot. This is the future of warfare folks. Hold onto your butts

With all of the information available about diets, weight loss can be overwhelming. People who enjoy success do so by following the simplest and most direct path. The suggestions in the article will give you need to make a plan that works without much fuss.
Choose chunkier, more filling soups. Remember that it?s not smart to get your calories through liquids alone. You will see yourself getting full much faster when consuming soups with big chunks of beans and vegetables, as opposed to soups that are creamy or pureed.
TIP! Try replacing all of your beverages with water. Soda, and even juice, are very high in sugars and calories.
A proven tip to losing weight loss is: avoid eating processed foods! You will be more likely to make healthy food this way and stick to foods that are high in fiber and natural ingredients.
It is possible to stay within the limits of your diet even when attending a family or work party. If snacks are provided, opt for healthier options like fresh fruits or veggies. By doing this you can still join in the party without sidetracking your weight loss routine. You don?t have to dwell on your diet while having fun; simply work with it.
TIP! If you are trying to lose 5 pounds quickly, you should drink a great deal of water. Cutting back on your calorie intake and consuming more water will help you get rid of fluid weight.
Invest in comfortable pair of workout shoes. If you wear shoes that do not fit properly, you will end up with sore feet on top of the muscle aches you are going to experience from increased activity.
Rather than consuming a large meal during the late evening hours, consume this big meal during your lunch hour. For instance, if you usually just eat a small sandwich for lunch, eat this sandwich for dinner instead. Your peak calorie-burning period is during the day when you are active, so it makes sense for your peak eating time to coincide with this.
TIP! Instead of getting rid of old habits that cause weight gain, replace them with new, healthier habits instead. Implementing positive, reasonable changes is a more effective means of following through with your diet plan.
It is imperative that you keep an eye on how many calories you eat every day. Once you get used to this, you will know how much to consume each day.
A multivitamin is a great alternative to improve your chances of losing weight. When you diet, you can stop eating a lot of different foods, and in the process deprive yourself of essential nutrients. The multivitamin helps make up for any vitamins that might be lacking.
TIP! Make sure you have a method for keeping track of your caloric intake. Purchase an affordable spiral notebook or diary.
Be sure to get enough sleep. Most adults get about eight hours of sleep every night. Staying awake all hours of the night will not cause your metabolism burning a bigger amount of calories. Getting enough sleep will keep your metabolism so you are able to burn off fat during the day.
Take note of your daily caloric intake. Do this by counting calories at every meal and tallying it up at the end of the day. Once a person knows how many calories are needed, it will be easier to determine the optimal amount of food to be eaten.
TIP! Go to bed at a reasonable hour each night. You should get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.
One effective way to start losing weight is to drink milk right before meals. Milk is a healthy choice since it has calcium that your body needs to keep your bones strong.
When you?ve started to see weight loss results, start throwing away the clothes that are now the wrong size for your new body. This activity gives you concrete evidence of your progress and makes you more confident. It helps keep you motivated to stay at the size you are currently at or lose more.
TIP! Use whipped butter on your food. Butter is an item that many people don?t want to eliminate or replace.
Try to eat your meals around the same time each day. This will help you establish a routine so you don?t eat at odd hours.Try and schedule your snacks.
Several people that are attempting to lose weight mistakenly keep the fact that they are dieting from others. They will help keep you motivated and encouraged if they know what you are trying to do. They will probably refrain from offering drinks and foods that may tempt you.
TIP! Make sure to include plenty of fresh, healthy foods in your diet plan. When you?re dieting it?s easy to be trapped in eating foods that have low calories and have little nutrition.
You must consume fat to burn it. They are, legumes, and other food sources and reduce cholesterol while helping the cardiovascular system, including weight loss.
Get rid of the clothes you have outgrown, quickly. Donating, selling or trashing these items forces you to keep looking forward and motivates you to maintain your new, healthy weight. The fact that your clothing is all too tight and you cannot find anything that fits right will push you to begin losing weight once again.
TIP! Don?t quit to easily when you are tying to lose weight. You may feel like giving up when things are not going the way you want them to.
Don?t turn your fork like a shovel. Take moderate sized bites when you eat until you feel full, put down your utensils. If you eat quickly, you?re probably eating more since your stomach doesn?t have an opportunity to let you know that it?s full. It is not hard to lose weight if you keep a few tips.
Try eating three bean salad to lose weight. You could create a low-calorie version easily at home. Simply open and drain one can each of three different types of beans, and mix the beans together with low-calorie Italian dressing. This meal is also filled with fiber, which is imperative to consume when losing weight.
TIP! Drinking at least eight glasses of water each day is an excellent tool to help your weight loss plan be successful. Drinking water helps you feel full and helps to avoid sodas and sweetened juices.
Eating at home instead of going out can be a big help you lose weight. People who eat out more tend to make healthier decisions on their meals. Eating at home rather than at restaurants also saves you a considerable amount of money.
Portion control is an essential part of shedding extra weight. Eat a small portion of meat, approximately the size of your palm. Studies have shown people who use portion control lose more weight.
TIP! A great way to lose some weight is to serve your food on smaller plates. When you have smaller dishes, you have smaller portions; it?s simple math.
A good way to keep a healthy lifestyle. Dietitians will help teach you how to eat food that is good for your body. A large part of weight loss comes from making healthier food choices.
Make use of a smaller plate when serving yourself food. Most people think a meal should fill their plate. If you put less food on your regular-sized plate, subconsciously you will feel as if you are being deprived. If you reduce the size of plate, you can eventually trick yourself into smaller meals.
TIP! If you exercise while you are engaged in another activity, you can lose weight without having to radically modify your lifestyle. For instance, while you are watching television or while you are seated at your desk, you can squeeze a muscle set.
It is recommended that you get the majority of your calorie intake from breakfast and lunch time.
Incorporate fruits and vegetables into tasty dishes by learning to make healthy sauces or dips as an accompaniment. Natural applesauce makes a great dip for fresh fruit, and adding yummy toppings to fresh veggies increases their appeal ten-fold.
TIP! If you make sure you have healthy snacks conveniently close, you can often avoid reaching for those foods that will damage your weight loss program. Load baggies with items such as dried fruits or nuts and store them in your desk or purse when you have a craving.
It could be tough to eat more veggies and fruits on a regular basis. You should keep some of these foods frozen in order to provide yourself many options. Keeping frozen vegetables in the freezer helps you put together a last minute healthy meal quick and easy. It?s also harder to make excuses for eating enough fruits and vegetables when healthy foods are so accessible.
Chew some sugar free gum to curb your hunger. Gum can help you to forget you are hungry. Chewing a lot of gum can be unhealthy as it triggers the release of stomach acids and can be detrimental to the health of your gums or teeth.
Forming good habits is key. The common sense advice in the article above are the way to get started today. You will begin to see some positive results that will help you lose weight almost immediately. Within just a few weeks this advice will become a habit, and you will lose weight as a natural result.

MSI?s GAMING series is back with an all new entry. The Z87-GD65 GAMING is certainly a promising contender and is one of the more unique offerings we?ve seen from MSI. We liked the last GAMING board we looked at, and we have liked all previous GD-65 series motherboards, hopefully this followup entry can measure up.
MSI is no stranger to the motherboard market. It?s offerings have been around since 1986. As a whole the brand is responsible for a lot of products ranging from motherboards to wireless networking hardware to graphics cards and even servers. Despite this diversification its motherboards remain the company?s most well known product offerings. Like its competition MSI offers many choices in a wide spectrum of price points to meet every need.
In an effort to target some audiences more effectively several motherboard manufacturers have spawned sub-brands which cater to specific markets. ASUS has its Republic of Gamers boards, Gigabyte its G1 series. MSI was a bit late to the party but eventually created its Gaming Series. These motherboards have slightly different designs than the standard retail offerings. Motherboards in the Gaming series have a visual style and feature sets which are geared toward gamers in particular. Though many enthusiasts may find gaming motherboards appealing as well given the powerful features usually associated with these.
While ASUS and Gigabyte offer a very broad spectrum of products under the respective Gaming lines MSI is still testing the waters. MSI originally only had the Z77A-G43, Z77A-G45 and Z77A-GD65 motherboards in its lineup. Currently all the products shown on MSI?s website follow this trend with only two new models being made available at this time which use the newer Z87 Express chipset. The Z87-G45 and Z87-GD65 are pretty much follow-up motherboards to last generation?s products.
At present I?m uncertain whether MSI has any plans for higher end offerings which would compete directly with ASUS? ROG lineup or not. If these existing models prove to be successful such an outcome seems like a definite possibility.
The MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING (Volumn Warning - There is a very loud video that plays on this page automatically.) is based on the Intel Z87 Express chipset. The motherboard features many design queues from the normal retail boards while including additional or rather different features from those products. The changes definitely target the gamer and performance enthusiast. DDR3 3000MHz speeds are supported through overclocking, USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s, PCI-Express generation 3.0 support, SLI, CrossFireX support and more.
The motherboard also supports many MSI specific design implementations and features. OC Genie 4, Military Class 4 components, super ferrite chokes, Hi-C Capacitors, Dark Caps, a gaming specific port, and Audio Boost. Much of this is marketing jargon so I?ll translate; the motherboard is well built using MIL-STD-810G spec components. The game port is a PS/2 mouse/keyboard port which has the polling rate set to 1,000Hz for the fastest possible peripheral response. The audio boost feature makes use of an integrated headphone amplifier rated for 600ohm output. OC Genie 4 is an automated overclocking solution which allows you to get more performance out of your system at the push of a single button.
Main Specifications Overview:
Detailed Specifications Overview:
The MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING motherboard comes in a red and black colored package. The box is standard fare although it does look very cool. The board arrived damage free with the following accessories: Overclocking guide, SATA cables, I/O shield, M-connectors, voltage connectors, GAMING series case badge, SLI bridge, door hanger, user guide, application user guide, quick start guide, and driver disc.
The MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING motherboard has an almost perfect layout. About the only complaint I have with it is the location of the onboard power and reset buttons. These are located in what I believe to be one of the worst possible locations on the motherboard PCB. If you?ve got two graphics cards installed for SLI / CrossFireX then these are almost unreachable. Generally speaking these are only used by people doing benchmarks or testing in open test benches. Occasionally I?ve used onboard buttons from the inside of a case when doing troubleshooting but that?s a rare occurrence. So while I am complaining about the button location I?m still well aware of how minor an issue this is regardless of how much it bothers me personally.
The CPU socket area is about as clean as possible. The 12 power phases are cooled by fairly large black and red heat sinks which do make use of a heat pipe. As always I?d like for the DIMM slots to be a bit further away from the CPU socket but that?s sadly not possible. Choosing your RAM and cooling hardware wisely though can avoid complications in regard to clearance easily.
There are 4 DDR3 DIMM slots supporting up to DDR3 3000MHz speeds through overclocking and a total of 32GB of RAM. These are not color coded. These are nice and out of the way of the expansion slots and allow for installation of modules despite larger graphic cards being installed. Additionally there are some V-check points next to the DIMM slots for testing purposes. You will also find the multi-BIOS switch on the left side of the DIMM slots and toward the PCB edge.
The south bridge is located in the southwest corner of the motherboard. It features a flat heat sink with a dragon motif. Directly in front of that are the 8 onboard SATA 6Gb/s ports. The ones with the red sticker are Intel ports and the bare ports are attached to the ASM1061 controller. Naturally the Intel controller supports RAID0, 1, 5, and RAID10. The ASM1061 is not a RAID controller at all.
The expansion slot area was well thought out. The motherboard supports both CrossFireX and SLI technologies. The PCI-Express configuration supports a 16x0, 8x8, or 8x4x4 configuration for the PCI-Express x16 slots. There are four PCIe x1 slots which are all PCI-Express 2.0 compliant.
The expansion slot area is packed full of ports. We?ve got 2x USB 2.0 ports, 1x PS/2 mouse and keyboard port, clear CMOS button, S/PDIF output, DVI-D, DSUB, 4x USB 3.0 ports 1x RJ-45 port, 1x HDMI port and six mini-stereo jacks which are gold plated for audio.

A Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines crash landed at SFO.
By Julie Yoon, F. Brinley Bruton and Matthew DeLuca, NBC News
Investigators recovered both black boxes from Asiana Airlines Flight 214 on Sunday, NTSB officials told NBC News, as the airline?s president said that engine failure was likely not the cause of the crash that killed two and injured scores more on the runway at San Francisco International Airport.
The black boxes from the aircraft, which record critical in-flight data, were recovered from the wreckage and were transported for examination on Sunday, the officials from the National Transportation Safety Board said. Investigators from the NTSB will analyze both the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder for clues as to what went wrong. The black boxes from the relatively new plane could potentially contain thousands of data points about the plane's behavior before the crash.

The two deceased passengers were identified as Chinese women in their teens, airline president Yoon Young-doo said at a press conference in Seoul, South Korea, on Sunday. The official Weibo microblog account for Asiana identified the victims as Ye Mengtuan and Wang Linjia, both 16 years old. The two were students at Jiangshan Middle School, according to the airline.
?We think there was no engine defect,? Yoon said.
A team of NTSB investigators will have its first full day on the ground Sunday, and will collect evidence and document the site of the crash that ?could have been much worse,? board Chairman Debbie Hersman told Meet the Press. The recovered black boxes could yield important insights within the next 24 hours at the board?s lab in Washington, D.C., she said, where they were transported on a late-night flight under federal guard.
A photograph published on the NTSB?s official Twitter account showed Hersman and Bill English, the investigator-in-charge, looking at the charred interior of the aircraft where collapsed luggage containers and other equipment hung from the ceiling.
?We have a lot of information to go through, and I think at this point everything is still on the table for us,? Hersman said. ?We have to not only identify what we?re focused on, but also to rule things out, and to do that we need good evidence.?
While the NTSB was working in conjunction with the FBI, Hersman said that there was still ?no indication? that any criminal activity was involved in the crash.
More than 180 people were transported to area hospitals after the crash landing that left debris strewn across the runway and ripped open the plane?s tail.
Of the 291 passengers and 16 crew members on board at the time of the crash, 49 incurred serious injuries including fractures and burns and were taken to one of nine Bay Area hospitals. The injured ranged in age from 20 to 76 years old.
?We are very sorry for the pain to the families and passengers,? Asiana chief executive Yoon said on Sunday.

Passenger Benjamin Levy said he heard screams after the crash landing, and for a few moments, confusion filled the cabin.
"It was surreal," Levy told NBC Bay Area on Saturday, shortly after being taken by ambulance from San Francisco International Airport. ?"A lot of people screaming and not really believing what has happening to them. I wasn?t believing it either."

Among those who made it to safety were 34 Chinese high school students and a teacher, on their way to summer camp in the United States, according to Chinese state television.
The crash ? the first involving a jumbo jet in the United States in more than a decade ? happened at 11:27 a.m. local time. It left a field of debris down the runway, beginning at the seawall that divides the runway from San Francisco Bay. Pieces of the tail could be seen among the wreckage.
As the plane approached the runway from the waters of San Francisco Bay, travelers in the terminals and others eyewitnesses could see that the aircraft was swaying unusually from side to side and that at one point the tail seemed to hit the ground before breaking off.
Tom Costello and Chairman of the NTSB, Debbie Hersman discuss the latest developments on the crash landing in San Francisco.
Despite the deaths and scores of injuries -- many of them serious -- San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee said at a Saturday evening news conference that "This could have been much worse."
Federal investigators said on Saturday that it was too early to determine a cause. A representative of the National Transportation Safety Board arrived on scene late Saturday and took control of the investigation.
Sources who spoke with NBC News said the pilot did not make a distress call before landing. The plane crashed in favorable weather ? partly cloudy skies and light wind.
A San Francisco airport spokesman said that a component of the facility's instrument landing system that tracks an incoming airplane's glide path was not working on Saturday.
Pilots and air safety experts said the glide path technology was far from essential for a safe landing in good weather.
Kevin Hiatt, chief executive of the Flight Safety Foundation and a former Delta pilot, said it was common for airports to take instrument landing systems offline for maintenance on clear days. Pilots use several other instruments and visual cues to land in clear conditions, Hiatt said.
The fiery crash landing of a Korean jetliner at the San Francisco International Airport late Saturday morning has left at least two people dead, and up to 70 injured, according to NBC Bay Area station KNTV. Hospitals say some of the injured are critical. NBC's Lester Holt reports.
"All of those are more than adequate to fly an aircraft down for a successful landing on the runway," he said.
Stefanie Turner, a witness, told MSNBC that she saw the plane clip the runway with its tail, then come to rest with flames and smoke billowing from the fuselage.
?The tail was too low. Instead of coming in flat it was coming in at, I would say, maybe a 45-degree angle, with the tail far too low,? she said.
?It really went through quite a few acrobatics on the runway.?
The jet carried 141 Chinese, 77 Koreans, 61 Americans, three passengers from India, one each from Japan and Vietnam and seven whose nationalities were unknown, the airline said. A situation room was set up in Beijing to provide information and help to the families of Chinese passengers, Yoon said.
NBC News'?Erin McClam, Emma Ong, Daniel Arkin,?Julie Yoo, Le Li, Jay Blackman, Jonathan Dienst, Richard Esposito, Tracy Jarrett and Kristen Welker contributed to this report. The Associated Press and Reuters also contributed.
San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee thanks the first responders of the Asiana Airlines crash and says "this could have been much worse."
